Let’s Eat Takeaway Meals 

Let us help you enjoy nutritious, affordable meals without the time, stress, and mess! Available to collect from the Aberfoyle Community Centre.

A variety of meals available, including vegetarian options. Meals are cooked fresh fortnightly on a Monday and are available for collection from 4pm-5pm Monday or 9am – 4pm Tuesday – Friday. (Frozen meals from previous cooks may also be available, enquire at the centre.)

Follow the Aberfoyle Community Centre on Facebook to see what nutritious meals will be available the coming week or call or visit the centre for more information. The number of meals are limited so please consider pre-ordering so you don’t miss out!

Payment options include cash, credit card and eftpos.

We also have a Pay it Forward program for our Let’s Eat Meals! If you would like to help friends or family with some meals but not sure what they enjoy, simply purchase some vouchers from the centre to give to them. They can then call the centre to order meals and give the voucher over upon collection.

Tai Chi
Ancient form of exercise for people of all ages and fitness. Beginners welcome to all classes.

Tuesdays:
Class 1:    9am – 10am

English Language and Literacy Support Program
Our Service: assisted Adult Community Learning in English language and literacy support by way of individual and small group tuition delivered by volunteer tutors within a friendly community setting.

Literacy Support may include:  functional English language literacy – i.e. reading, writing, speaking and listening skills – including expression and comprehension, spelling, grammar and punctuation; numeracy and financial literacy; cultural literacy, building an understanding of Australian society, its language, history, laws, systems and customs; computer literacy and education and employment literacy, developing an understanding of work skills, setting goals, identifying training options and finding career pathways.

Available to:  Any adult (over 17 years) who is no longer attending school and who needs any form of literacy, numeracy or basic skills support and/or personalised assistance to better engage with the local community and/or prepare for further study, voluntary work or entry into paid employment.

Our volunteer tutors: aim to provide individualised tuition and personal support to suit students’ particular needs.  They will help you to learn at your own pace to achieve your own special goals.

Our Individual and Small Group Sessions: are open to all first and second-language speakers of English who may experience any degree of difficulty with the written and/or spoken English language.

Volunteer  tutors  are  invited  to  apply. Leave your name and contact details to arrange a return call from our Program Coordinator, Jennifer.

Men’s Breakfast
Join us on the 3rd Thursday of each month for an opportunity to socialise and connect. Includes guest speakers, activities and outings.

Time: 8:00am – 10.00am

Happy Snippers
A Social Craft group.  Come and learn from others or maybe pass on your own skills. Some patterns available.

Time: Every Monday 9:30am – 12 noon
Cost: $5.00 per session

Writers Hub
Meet with a growing group of keen local writers to share ideas and writing. Learn skills that assist with writing development and effective critiquing. Keep up to date with current trends in literature, publishing opportunities and competitions. Whether you are just beginning your writing journey or well on your way, the group welcomes writers of any genre.

All writers welcome. Meeting monthly

Time: 1st Monday of each month 7pm – 9pm
Cost: $7.00 per session

Shutter Bugs
Bringing together like-minded amateur or novice photographers who are interested in improving their skills. This is a social gathering where members discuss subjects and techniques – your camera,  lenses and shutters, exposure and light, locations, people.

Time: 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month 1.30pm – 3.30 pm
Cost: $8.00 per session

Wednesday Wanderers
A friendly social group where you can be a tourist in your own city! See the sights, hear the sounds and taste the delights within the city and the surrounds. Outings using private cars and public transport, occasional activities at the Centre.

Time: Meets 4th Wednesday of the month. Times vary

Yoga with Hwamin
The practice is gentle and slow to help promote inward awareness, to re-connect with your inner peace. Classes include breath work, postures and relaxation/meditation and suits all ages and fitness levels

Gentle Exercise
Gentle Exercise  is a gentle to moderate activity program that combines aerobic activity with weight bearing, balance, mobility and stretching exercises. Run by an accredited exercise professional. This is a gentle, physical weekly activity program

Active Bodies
Is a High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)program that is fun, safe and suitable for over 50’s and ALL fitness levels. HIIT involves repeatedly exercising at a high intensity for a short period of time followed by a short period of rest and has been shown to significantly reduce subcutaneous fat, especially abdominal fat, as well as total body mass and insulin sensitivity. HIIT has even been used to improve the wellbeing of people with chronic health conditions such as diabetes and stable angina as well as those recovering from heart failure and other cardiac related procedures.

Mindful Meditation
Rebalance Mind, Body and Spirit as you’re gently guided on a meditation journey. Enter a state of deep peace and calmness. No prior experience needed.

The sessions include body relaxation techniques and simple breathing exercises before you are gently guided on a meditation journey. Crystals are available and most sessions involve colour visualisations and chakra balance. All are welcome to this lovely supportive group.

Each week we’ll explore different relaxing scenes which will help you build a deep connection with places of resonance that you can visit yourself at any time. Bookings essential.

Helen O’Grady Drama Academy – Adelaide
The programme we offer in the Academy is one of self-development for 11-16 year olds.  Our stimulating classes cover speech, improvisation, mini-scripts, snippets, and movement and production techniques.  The course aims to increase children’s self-confidence, communicative ability and creative talents

Ju-Jitsu Junior

The Martial Art of Ju-Jitsu with the World Ju-Jitsu Federation Australia is the fighting system used by Japanese Samurai. Using traditional style and adapted techniques for today’s lifestyle it will develop fitness & self confidence.

Aberfoyle Social Links – for over 65 years of age  (formerly known as Seniors on the Move)
Providing a social program for people who require support, socialisation and special attention to enhance their life. A weekly program with a wide variety of activities and bus trips arranged occasionally. A low-cost home-cooked meal is included on program day. Transport to and from Centre is available for a nominal fee.

HACC assessment criteria applies.

Neighbourhood Watch
It’s FREE and new neighbours are always welcome. Police Coordinator in attendance with the most recent neighbourhood crime statistics and we nearly always have an interesting Guest Speaker. Light Supper and refreshments are available
