The Aberfoyle Community Centre Incorporated is all about meeting the needs of residents, local groups and community members. The Centre is a central meeting place for community activities for local residents.

Mission

The Aberfoyle Community Centre Inc responds to individual and community needs by facilitating a diverse and accessible range of social, leisure, recreational and educational activities that develop personal growth, encourage well-being and a sense of identity.

 

Aims & Objectives

 

We endeavour to:

 

  • Plan and implement quality and affordable programs in response to community needs.
  • Provide a welcoming environment that fosters participation and community spirit.
  • Encourage, acknowledge, support and train volunteers within the Centre.
  • Develop working partnerships, network with other agencies and professional bodies to continue to create positive pathways for local residents.

 

Several local groups meet at the Centre. They provide a wide range of activities for residents. From arts and craft to computing or general interest to adult education. Group activities are listed on the Centre Calendar page.

 

Groups can even have their own page on this site to explain what they have to offer to the community. Readers can view the groups page here.

Welcome to SUMMER

 

  NEW  -   Hebel Sculpture Art Workshops – 2012

 

 

Come along and carve your own sculpture out of hebel (aerated concrete) which is a soft, light art medium to work with.

For 5 weeks 

 

When  :   Mondays 6 February – 5 March

 

Time  : 9.30am – 12.30pm

 

Cost  :  $7.00 per week

 

You also need to buy your own Hebel block at approximately $10.00. Tools are suppled. Sculpture will be stored at the Centre for the duration of the workshops

 

Bookings – please ring the Centre 9.00am – 3pm, Monday – Friday.

 

 

 

Basic First Aid Workshop – First Aid for Parents  -  Babies welcome to attend with parents

Units of competency – HLTCPR201A

 

Course 1  :  Tuesday 21 February 

Time  :   7 – 9pm                              Cost : $25.00 per person

 

Course 2  :  Wednesday 9 May

Time  :  12.30 – 3.00pm                 Cost : $25.00 per person

Social Grandparents Playgroup

A self lead group
supported by Centre Staff

An opportunity for Grandparents to play with their grandchildren and meet other grandparents/carers in our wonderful Crèche and playground facility

Commencing  :  Wednesday  1st February 2012

Time : 2.30 – 4.30pm

Cost  : $3.00 per family per session

Physiofemme   -   Pilates Back & Neck Class

Reduce pain and stiffness, develop core stability.

Suitable for all adults, ideal for pregnancy and new mums

Thurs 7.00 – 7.45pm

Maximum of 10 participants

Run by Chandlers Hill Physiotherapy

Cost $20.00/class   or   $180.00 prepay for x10 classes

Family Carer Program  -  Alzheimer’s Australia SA

 

A FREE program for family members caring for a relative with dementia living in the community.

Topics to be discussed in the workshop include :

  •  understanding dementia
  • responding to changes in behaviour
  • effective communication
  • the caring role
  • planning for the future and legal issues
  • services and support available to you

Immunisation Clinic  -     no Immunisation Clinic on Thursday 26 January

At the Centre every Thursday 2 – 7 pm. No appointment necessary.

NO cash payments.

Payment may be made by credit card or pre-pay at the Council Office (Hub) and bring your receipt or Immunisation will invoice.

Immunisation Accredited Registered Nurses are available at all clinics for advice on immunisation and administration of vaccines and other fee for service programs. For further information contact Council’s Immunisation Services Department 8384 0681

 

First day of Immunisation in 2012 – Thursday 12 January.

 

 

 

 


 

The Centre has a Hall/rooms available for hire for private parties, corporate functions, educational seminars and regular activities. Any questions regarding hiring of a venue can be answered by Anne. Please phone to make an appointment with her 8270 5377. Mondays – Fridays :  9am – 3pm.
