Mission

The Aberfoyle Community Centre Inc responds to individual and community needs by facilitating a diverse and accessible range of social, leisure, recreational and educational activities that develop personal growth, encourage well-being and a sense of identity.

 

Aims & Objectives

We endeavour to:

 

  • Plan and implement quality and affordable programs in response to community needs.
  • Provide a welcoming environment that fosters participation and community spirit.
  • Encourage, acknowledge, support and train volunteers within the Centre.
  • Develop working partnerships, network with other agencies and professional bodies to continue to create positive pathways for local residents.

 

Several local groups meet at the Centre. They provide a wide range of activities for residents. From arts and craft to computing or general interest to adult education. Group activities are listed on the Centre Calendar page.

Adult Learner Pathway Course

 

Flinders University, in partnership with TAFE SA and the Centre, are excited to announce a new initiative engaging adult learners in the Community.

This part time 18 week preparation course aims to provide people with the skills, knowledge and confidence should they wish to continue their pathway onto higher education. Through the provision of individual case management support, participants are encouraged to identify their own goals and aspirations.

Five reasons to participate in the FREE Adult Learner Pathway Course :

  • increase your self-confidence, literacy, computer and employability skills
  • gain knowledge of career and study pathway opportunities
  • gain support in developing your own individual life education plan

Young Adult Art Workshop

Date :  Tuesday 21 April 2015

Time :  10am – 3pm

Cost :  $8 per person (including lunch)

This watercolour workshop is being led by Alan Louis Ramachandran, the recipient of 35 awards.

He conducts workshops at Carclew and Art Societies.  This is a wonderful opportunity for young adults aged 14 years and over to come and try in a non-threatening environment.

Amnesty International Southern Adelaide Group

 Aberfoyle Community Centre and BankSA have joined together in an Alliance to raise funds for the Centre to purchase equipment

Writers Hub

Meeting fortnightly during school term

 

Meet with local writiers to share ideas and stories. Learn processes to assist with writing and critiquing.

Volunteer leader and keen local writer Kelly Hibbert whose focus and speciality is children’s literature.

Singing for Fun  -  come and join us

 

When : every 2nd & 4th Thursday of the month

Cost : $3.00 per session

This social group meets every 2nd Friday of the month for outings and friendship.

Men’s Breakfast offers an opportunity to socialise and connect with other men.

Aberfoyle Explorers“  -  Social Group  – vacancies

This group meets on the 1st Friday of the month. A social group which enjoys outings and friendship. ALL welcome.

Yoga  -  Energise and Balance  -  NEW

New class commencing 3rd February 2015

Tuesdays  :  7 – 8.30pm

A beautiful and unique class for body, mind and soul.

Classes assist movement, flexibility, inner balance and holistic well-being.  Include breath awareness, flow movements, asanas, energy balancing and relaxation.  Suits all abilities.

Immunisation   -    At the Centre  -  every Thursday during school term only,  2 – 6pm  

No appointment necessary

NO cash payments.

Payment -  you can pre-pay at the Council Office (Hub) and bring your receipt or Immunisation will invoice you.

Immunisation Accredited Registered Nurses are available at all clinics for advice on immunisation and administration of vaccines and other fee for service programs.

The Centre has a Hall/rooms available for hire for private parties, corporate functions, educational seminars and regular activities. Any questions regarding hiring of a venue can be answered by Anne.
