Take a video Tour of our Centre (6.5MB) [view]   Vision Aberfoyle Community Centre Inc. – A Welcoming Place to Engage and Grow.   Mission The Aberfoyle Community Centre Inc responds to individual and community needs by facilitating a diverse and accessible range of social, leisure, recreational and educational activities that develop personal growth, encourage well-being and a sense of identity.   Aims & Objectives We endeavour to:

  • Plan and implement quality and affordable programs in response to community needs.
  • Provide a welcoming environment that fosters participation and community spirit.
  • Encourage, acknowledge, support and train volunteers within the Centre.
  • Develop working partnerships, network with other agencies and professional bodies to continue to create positive pathways for local residents.

Several local groups meet at the Centre. They provide a wide range of activities for residents. From arts and craft to computing or general interest to adult education. Group activities are listed on the Centre Calendar page.   Groups can even have their own page on this site to explain what they have to offer to the community. Readers can view the groups page here. Please note : there are vacancies in each playgroup or the opportunity for you and your friends to start up your own playgroup

Please ring the Centre on 8270 5377 if you would like further information regarding playgroup times and vacancies. The Centre has a well equipped Crèche room and playground, with lots of indoor and outdoor toys and equipment.

Kids in the Kitchen

Thursday July 21st 2016

 

Come and join in the fun these school holidays with Chef Anita.

Hands on culinary adventure that will have your kids confident in the kitchen. The children will learn food handling and preparing, kitchen safety, recipe reading and motor skills such as chopping and measuring, all whilst cooking something delicious to eat and share.

We will be offering 2 hour sessions in the following age groups –

 

  • ages 3 – 5 years accompanied by an adult at all times : 10am – 12 noon
  • ages 6 – 10  :  1 – 3pm
  • ages 11 – 16   :   4 – 6pm

 

Please book early to avoid disappointment

Cost$20.00 which must be paid at time of booking, cash or cheque only.

 

2 Computing Workshops  –  $6.00 per session, paid in advance

“Gentle Moves”   –    Mondays and Thursdays

 

This is a gentle, physical weekly activity program

Times :      Monday  12.30 – 1.15pm

                     Thursdays 12.30 – 1.15pm

‘Gentle Exercise’  is a gentle to moderate activity program that combines aerobic activity with weight bearing, balance, mobility and stretching exercises. Run by an accredited exercise professional.

Active Bodies – Tuesdays

A total body work out, that uses multiple muscles and joints at the same time to improve endurance, strength, balance, posture, coordination and agility.

  • Burn calories and fat

  • Suitable for over 50’s and all fitness levels

Classes are held on Tuesdays from 5.45 – 6.30pm

Cost is $8 per session for a casual class but multi-visit passes are available at a cheaper rate

Mindful Meditation  with Elizabeth James

Weekly on Tuesdays   :  7.30 – 9.00pm

Cost :  $12/session payable in advance : $60 for 5 weeks;  $15 / pay as you go. Concessions available.

Rebalance Mind Body and Soul as you are gently guided on a meditation journey. Enter a state of deep peace and calmness. No prior experience needed. Writers Hub

Monthly   – Mondays

Time :   7 – 8.30pm

Cost :    $6.00 per evening. Meeting monthly during school term.  Meet with a growing group of keen local writers and authors to share ideas and writing. Learn skills that assist with writing development and effective critiquing. Keep up-to-date with current trends in literature, publishing  opportunities and competitions. Singing for Fun  –  come and join us

Men’s Breakfast offers an opportunity to socialise and connect with other men. Includes guest speakers and trips to places of interest.

 

Aberfoyle Explorers”  –  Social Group   –  waiting list at present

This group meets on the 1st Friday of the month. A social group which enjoys outings and friendship. ALL welcome. Please ring the Centre on 8270 5377 to register your interest.

 

Wednesday Wanderers Social group  – 4th Wednesday each month

Outings using private cars and public transport will be arranged as well as an occasional activity day at the Centre. Some possible outings could be – Parliament House, Adelaide Oval, Botanic Gardens, SA Film Corporation.

Lunch at a nearby, economical eatery will follow

All meals, activities and travel costs are to be on a user pays basis

Annual subscription fee of $10 to cover postage, photo-copying etc.

Yoga  –  Energize and Balance

A beautiful class that is nourishing for heart, body, mind and soul. The practice is gentle yet dynamic and helps promote flexibility, strength, inner balance, energy and holistic wellbeing. Includes breath awareness, asana, flow movements, meditation, energy balancing and relaxation. A general class suitable for beginners and all abilities. Comfortable ambient environment.

The Centre has a Hall/rooms, kitchen, playground available for hire for private parties, corporate functions, educational seminars and regular activities. Any questions regarding hiring of a venue can be answered by Anne.
